Originally, I was gonna let the hair thing go. I mean that SuJu hair post like killed me dead and really, who cares?, it’s just hair on some Korean boys.

Well, evidently I care. So when I saw the new Junsu, I decided this needed to be talked about. Is there some rule in Korean boyband universe that states at least one member must have a non-genetically given hair color at all times? DBSK only had their comeback three weeks ago and already the honor has passed from Yunho to Junsu. I mean, I really don’t understand what Koreans (and Asians in general) have against black hair. Maybe they think it’s too boring, or it makes them too good looking?!? Maybe it’s done to protect the fangirls’ sanities by having fugly hair counteract the effects of hip thrusting?

This probably sounds prejudiced, but I feel like as a race, Asian people just don’t look good with colored hair. Believe me, back in the day (Jr. High), it was all the rage to get those chunky streaks of blond and red and brunette, which, looking back, kinda made the girls look like chimeric lemurs, but whatever. All the white girls at my school were doing it, and I was like, “Kwel, me want nao!!!” I was too chicken and poor to get it done professionally, so I brought one of those do at home highlight kits decided to lemur highlight myself up. Not only did I end up killing like a million brain cells from the chemical smell (brain cells I really, really could use now), it also looked like crap. Oh well, too late. By the time my hair grew to the point where all the highlights were gone, I’d vowed never to streak/bleach/color/ my hair ever again.

Obviously the lessons I learned in Junior High have not yet resonated with my famouser, hotter, maler, Korean counterparts. Actually this phenomenon seems to mostly reside with SM artist, with DBSK paving the way in the peroxide revolution. To be semi-serious for a second, all that bleach and dye on top of all the product must be horrible for their hair and scalp. Also, it just seems like such a hassle and waste to always be changing hairstyles for seemingly no particular reason. Whatever, I guess, at least it gives the fangirls like me something to obsess talk about… Since five is way more manageable then 13, I’ll talk about each boy’s hair separately.

Junsu Ah, my inspiration for this post. All I can ask is, why??? Compared to the other boys, he seems to spend a greater proportion of his lifetime with natural colored hair. Prior to yesterday, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him with any shade of red before. Such sweet memories. Really, I won’t say it looks terrible, but it looks weird. And like really, why would he dye it when he looks 1928347192 times better as a blackie? Also, judging by his IQ score from FO, he really can’t stand to lose any more brain cells, so please, just get it back to black and keep it there mkay?

Changmin When I first saw his haircut, I thought it was too short. I’ve sort of grown accustomed to it especially since it’s kinda grown out a little. I really liked his Purple Line days haircut. Maybe cause he’s so tall, he looks better proportioned with longer hair ;___;. IDEK

Yunho Again, looks ∞ better with dark hair. I wish he would dye it full black again cause he just looks more fierce that way but it’s better then that dirty blond he was sporting like last week. Baby steps.

Jaejoong Probably leads all Kpoppers, if not all of humanity. in hair color changes/time. He always seems to have the same bang-bowl haircut, then alternates with a rainbow of colors. I really, really like the way it looks now. Contrary to 99.98% of the other fangirls out there, I actually like his manly look more then that ambiguous, too-pretty-to-even-be-a-transvestite look. By Asian boyband standards, his haircut makes him look quite manly so please keep it and don’t go back to say, OJBH days. Please.

Yoochun I don’t really have anything original to say on this. His hair is so peculiar that even non-fangirl people in interviews ask him about it. It looks bad, it makes him look bad, every time I watch a performance I’m at least a little bit distracted by it, in a bad way. He said it was for the concept, but since I don’t think their concept is fugly, it fails even at that. Trufax maybe: just using one eye to see will atrophy the receptors in the other. Don’t let your fans and neurons suffer anymore Micky.

Another post, another 800+ words on a completely superfluous topic. Such is the life of a fangirl.
