Ha Ha, I’ve promised myself to do this post since forever and I’m finally getting around to it. Actually, the reason I’ve procrastinated so long is because I really don’t know who I should talk about. I listen to a more diverse group of artists in Cpop v. Kpop, but I don’t obsesses over many of them, and some I just put on as background noise without really paying attention. This isn’t comprehensive of everything I listen to, cuz I’d be dead before I could finish that list (not because I listen to that many artist, but it’s taken me two weeks to write about these nine people/groups, so you can do the math…) I’ve decided to just write about the most well known peoples in Cpop right now. No bands, because they’re partly about vocals and partly about instruments, so it’s sort of a different category (plus I’m lazy, plus I only listen to like three bands) and only Taiwan based artists, (again, lazy and) because I can actually find live performances for them.
I’ll start with the four biggies of Cpop right now. IMO, these four are the most well known, but more importantly, most talented Mandarin male soloists on the market today. All four of them do the majority of their own writing, including everything from lyrics to compositions, but since this is a vocal post, I’ll refrain from commenting on that (not like I know enough about music to say anything worthwhile anyway ;___;). They’re all amazing, so no need to rank them. Ordered by personal preference I guess.
What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving then by giving thanks to my favorite fandom?? Lol, I’m planning on passing out from food for the next few days so this will be the last moments of coherent me for a while.
That’s all folks! So this might be my last post for a few days and my last Kpop post for a while longer. Thanksgiving is about spending time with family and friends so that’s exactly what I plan on doing. After I get back from break, the big F will be upon me (finals…. fucked… take your pick) so that should be a fun time as well lol. I’m taking a little break from posting about Korean things, not because I don’t ♥ it like crazy, but because it just takes up way too much time, and I want to write about some other stuff for a while. have a good weekend : ). Time for dinner! Gobble! Gobble!
"JYP's like a father to us... a over-controlling, overbearing, doesn't-know-the-meaning-of-personal-boundaries father..."
Coolsmurf always writes about/translates the most interesting new from the Korean idol world. I mean, I love Seoulbeats as much as the next person, but my neurons die a little everytime I read that site… Anyways, this is about Korea’s ban on “slavery” contract agreemements of certain entertainment companies. The article has been making the rounds the last few days and needless to say, fans are angry over the treatment of their idols. I don’t want to comment on contract legalities and stuff since my knowledge of that would be in the negative, but I found this part really interesting:
“The spotlight is on the contract terms that mainly interferes with the personal life of their artistes. For example, an artiste has to first seek approval from their company before being able to go overseas (iHQ). An artiste must notify their company their present location at anytime of asking (Olive9, Fantom). An artiste lifestyle including companionship, schooling, citizenship, military enlistment, making friends, economic activities, socializing events, transportation will have to be consulted with the company (JYP Entertainment) in advance which means interfering with their personal life.”
What, you didn’t know Housing and Estate Conferences are China’s Inkigayo? It’s where all the top idols get their groove on T___T. Lol anyways, it’s been ages since I’ve seen SJM perform and I was squeeing all over the place over this XDDD. Most noteably, they sung “ALISHY” LIVE!!! ♥♥ and it sounded great^^. Did you lmao when that random lady sautered on stage??? It was so WTF and I loved how Siwon and Hangeng were like looking off to the side like, “Manager!!!! Save us!!!!” Then those two security guards ran on stage and pretty much dragged the lady away and Kyu and Henry are like loling hard core in the background. Meanwhile, Ryeowook is like pretending nothing is happening and oh, ILUSM SJM!!!!!
Yeah, and no matter how many time I watch the “Me” dance, I still find it stupidly awesome. So much shimmy and jumping^^. The “Love Song” dance is equally loltastic. Is it just me, or do the dance moves seem really girly??? You slap on lollipops, and it might as well be an SNSD dance lol ♥.
