W-w-w-whoa. Just when I was like gonna break from Kpop, this crazy pops up.

Okay, honest moment: When I heard the news, I was shocked, but not panicky or heartbroken. Guess I just figured out how much I like DBSK. Still, they are one of the pillars of Kpop, so if this were to actually end in the wost possible way, it would definitely cause a few ripples in the industry.

Cliche and predictable, but oh so addicting.

Also, I’m sick of Kpop (for the moment) o__O. I just lost all of my music because my computer crashed, so maybe it’s a sign I should go find something new to listen to.

WHY DOES EVERY KPOP GIRL GROUP IN EXISTANCE RIGHT NOW SOUND LIKE LADY GAGA??????????

Idec about Kara; I just want to internets rant about this very ubiquitous, very unnecessary trend. With the exception of SNSD, I can’t think of another girl group who’s not doing electro-synthpop right now. WTFTF??????

I’m fully aware that originality isn’t top of the list priority for Kpop, but does every group need to flippin’ sound the exact same? It’s not that I don’t love this sound cuz I do; I’m totally in love with “Abracadabra” and “Poker Face” is like regular rotation material. However, the key word there is rotation, as in I can’t frickin’ listen to the same thing over and over :/

I’m already sadface at all the non existent boyage right now, and this is just like spoiled icing on a rotten cake. Please be fixing it Korea!!!!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a BEG song before in my life, but now seems to be an opportune time to start.

Not gonna say this mv turned me into a lesbian, because let’s be honest, it hasn’t. However, if the situation ever arose, it wouldn’t be an emphatic “no.”

Things:

  • I’m not super familiar with Kpop outside of idols, but this seem pretty original compared to what’s out there. While America’s fascination with girlxgirl is old meme, Korea is still getting there I guess.
  • Idk how I feel about the autotune. I don’t hate it as much as some, but from what I hear, BEG are great singers, so this does some disservice to their talents. Still, can’t deny the song is hot.
  • Actually, everything is hot. Korea’s “slutty” mvs usually scream “trying too hard, yet not getting there,” but this is legit. I just wish Ga In and that other chick actually made out at the end. The mv is gonna get banned anyways, so they might as well have gone all the way with it.
  • Finally, it’s great to see some grown ups in Kpop.

Will def. be checking out the album :)

Whoa, a once-in-a-blue-moon Cpop post. Brb, savoring the moment.

Okay, so I’m at the point with Chinese music where I just find stuff, listen, and if I like it, I keep listening. Therefore, I’m not really bothering with unimportant facts like names or ages o__O. However, I realize this sort of gives off an air of Idgaf which probably isn’t gonna inspire you to give this a try, so let me try and think of some slightly more intelligent things to say…

Um okay. Zhang yung Jing (張芸京) became well known through the Taiwanese version of American Idol. She released her debut album, Unprecedented in May to quite a bit of commerical success. Honestly the first time I heard it, I hated it. However, I was really deprived of new Chinese music at the time, so I gave it another listen, and found it not so bad. Then I listened again, and I ended up really loving it. If you read my blog at all, you know that I’m not a huge fan of female singers. Aside from the obligatory purtyboys! reasons, I tend to prefer male voices anyways. However, I’m quite a fan of how ZYJ sings. Her voice is pretty rich and deep, and it doesn’t reek of girliness which I can only stand so much of.

As far as the music goes, I wouldn’t say it’s anything you’ve never heard before, but it’s nice, and doesn’t get annoying after like five listens. If I had to pick a genera, I’d say she does pop rock, but heavily leaning on the pop side. Like usual, I enjoy the ballad-y tracks the most, although her up tempo songs aren’t bad either. In fact, I really could have used a few more fast paced songs since her image is “rock” but whatever. Favorite tracks are “Black Skirt,” “Unprecedented,” and “1030.”

So basically, I’m recommending this, but probably only to people who are at least somewhat interested in Chinese music already. IDK if this is something that would interest beginners. If you decide to give her a try, I suggest you listen to her album a few times before you judge; it’s definitely one of those things that grows on you. I know this isn’t like a keyboard smash, spazzfest recommendation, but her voice is truly lovely, and her songs are much better than the usual dredge female Cpop singer are putting out right now.

As usual, the (very small cuz of laziness) link spam:

Her AF Thread Very nicely done. Lots of facts and links. I’m gonna check out some of her performances from her competition days. A lot of my fave songs up there!

Download link to her album I can’t find an streaming link, but if you wanna give it a try. Come on, all the cool kids are doing it T__T

Subbed mv for “Black Skirt” I’m usually not a fan of Cpop mvs, but here you go. Awesome surprise: Anson Hu composed this song. Ngl, that makes me like it even more XDD. Oh fuck, I really love Cpop lyrics. I think it’s cuz I’m unfamiliar with the language, so even the most cliche, cheesy things seem totally poetic and deep to me. Anyways, song seems to go with her tomboy persona quite well.

Singing “Tong Hua” ALkfjsklfjf, one of my fave songs of all time! From the competition thing. She sounds so nervous, but still pretty good. And then Michael Wong just rolls in with his awesome. Now there’s someone who needs to produces a new album like yesterday^^

Some fancam of her singing “Black Skirt” Idk, I thought I should include one of her singing her own song. Side note, I really like her style. Androgyny on girls is super hot imo.

Basically, if you like Cpop, give it a try. If not, then what can I do to convince you otherwise?? *eyebrow wiggle*
