Zomg, just when I thought I was through with Taiwanese dramas, something like this comes up to suck me right back in o__O. Check out the trailer above and tell me you’re not foaming at the mouth already~~

I’ve only seen one episode, but so far, I’m already hooked. The drama is produced by the infamous Angie Cai, who is like the god of Taiwanese idol dramas. However, it is definitely not a typical Rainie/Fahrenheit idol spectacle. The cast is lead by now veteran actor Vic Zhou and a bunch of newbies who seem to have lots of potential. The series has been in production since late 2007, but they’ve encountered so many setbacks with cast changes and weather problems that caused the drama to be delayed until now.

So, it seems like Taiwan has finally caught up to the times and started producing police dramas that has long been monopolized by the Hong Kong and Mainland markets. So far, it seems that there’s a good balance of action, comedy, and srs moments, and although you can totally tell there’s gonna be boylovesgirl time, it’s not gonna be the central focus of the show (thank god).

I’ll admit it, I’m just a total sucker for a good ‘ol police drama, especially the campy, stereotypical, romance ladened ones that Asia churns out. I’d watch all the Hong Kong stuff, but since I don’t know Cantonese, it’s hard for me to know what the really great ones are. I don’t think RH is gonna be the best thing ever, but it’s a refreshing change of pace for Taiwan, and yes, I do enjoy all the eye candy thank you very much XDD

Vic Zhou has a knack for picking interesting projects that challenge himself as an actor. His carefree playboy character in this is so completely different from his character in Wish to See You Again, but it totally works. I like that he’s able to take on different roles, but always manages to retain some of that special Zai Zai charm that I find so irresistable.

So for now, gonna keep watching. Hopefully this drama will do well, and allow for Taiwan to start producing some more mature dramas instead of the usual crap.

U-Kiss... even if I wanted to heart them, its not gonna happen

U-Kiss... even if I wanted to ♥ them, it's like not happening

So I know it may be heresy to say this, but I think I’ve reached a saturation point in boyband love. This isn’t a “I’m losing interest” thing but more of a “I’m tired and I just can’t keep up” thing. This may sound stupid, but liking a boyband is a lot of hard work. I mean, it’s no gulag, but nevertheless, hours upon hours of mindless internet stalking surfing takes it’s toll *whine*. First of all, there’s the need to figure out who’s who. I dunno about you, but I can’t sufficiently enjoy a boyband until after I’ve at least gotten to know all their names and approximate ages (The age thing is a must; especially knowing exactly how young the youngest one is~). While this task may sound easy, it’s not. Not even close because there are always many group members, who always travel in packs, while often wearing the same clothes. That makes it difficult to tell them apart (Ihavetroublewithfacesdon’tmakefunofmeokay?!?!). Then, once you finally can semi match names to faces, all of them proceed to chage their hair styles and so it’s like, “crap!!! have to start all over again!!!”

LOL ok, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make this post cause– I mean, it’s F4. You either like them, hate them or don’t care because they’re too old. However, with the new Meteor Gardens coming out in China and Korea, I thought I’d take an opportunity and reminisce a little about the original pretty boys of Asia^^. I know I don’t really talk about them, but they revolutionized Cpop for better or worse, and as my first Asian obsession, I gotta throw them some love. I don’t think they will ever recapture the magic of their Meteor Garden days but that doesn’t mean not still amazing. I dunno, the fact that I like them makes me all sorts of old (arrrh, I’m not even twenty yet, but I guess Asian pop does that to you…) Everyone now is all “alsdjkfal Fahrenheit, asldkjf Bang Bang Tang” or whatever but F4 paved the way for all these cute, questionably-talented, boybands to make a living singing manufactured pop songs, and I love them forever for it!!!11 For a band that’s been around for seven years, their discography is glaring small. Oh well, they’re mostly actors before singers so it’s not surprising I guess. Brief music timeline under the cut!
