Fahrenheit

Yippie! This is like the ultimate treat for my Cpop deprived self! I have no idea what this award is, but so many artists showed up, so it must be pretty legit. Alsdjflsdkj, I had the hardest time collecting performances, so if you have more links to share, or happen to know where I can watch the full show, I will give my undying love to you forevers!!

Leehom; Xin.Tiao. How long has it been since I’ve seen a Leehom performance? Too damn long!! Lol @ the technical difficulty in the begining. Leehom is so squishable when he’s like, “should we do it one more time?” Alsjdfjlkdfslk I cannot love this guy anymore than I do!!! I think it goes without saying that his singing was amazing as always^^^He always sings his songs differently each time he performs, and he’s so expressive!! ♥♥♥X1000000!!!!!!!

Jason Zhang Jie; 2008 Taiwan/HK Top Songs Medley Okay, I don’t know who Jason Zhang is, judging by the screams, he’s hella popular in China atm. Anyways, I loved this performance! He basically sings a line or two from the most popular songs of HK/Taiwan of the past year. So many of my faves on the list! Aklsadjfsld, I need to learn more about this boy! He’s cute, he can sing, what else is there to ask for????

BoBo; 2008 Mainland Top Songs Medley | If Okay, I’m only familar with BoBo by name, but I do know they are the most popular group in China right now. Purely judging by their voice/looks/way they look at one another, I’d say they’re pretty deserving XDD. Anyways, I’m sort of embarrassed that I pretty much recognized all the songs/artists from the Taiwan/HK list, but I know almost no one on this list o___O. Lol at all the Olympic propaganada music that managed to get on the list though T__T. As far as their other song, it’s pretty typical Cpop, but again, cute+nice voices = me relatively interested.

Fahrenheit; Xin Wo Kind of a side note, but I hate those stupid sponsor mics; the random plast strip is really distracting ^__^ Anyways, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen FRH perform this song. Eh, not too bad I guess.

Mayday; Ni Bu Shi Zhen Zheng De Kuai Le Ahhh, this has got to be one of my fave songs from PotDA!!! I don’t normally watch Mayday live performances, cuz to be honest, I think they sound a lot better on the CD, but I really liked this performance! I don’t really listen to that much rock music, but it’s fun watching these boys play the guitar, bass and drums!

Jam Hsiao; Wang Zi De Xin Yi Okay question: When did Jam Hsiao get hot? I remember back when he was just this super awkward kid who couldn’t say more than three words at once, but now he’s all, “look at me, I sing rock and wear tight pants” Whatever, love this Jam 2394293X more!!

S.H.E; Miss Universe The thing I love about S.H.E. the most is that they’re always so perky! They’re one of the few performers that actually have coreography, and I always feel like bopping along whenever I watch them perfrom this song!

Show Luo; Hot Shot Speaking of  coreography, here’s the supposed dance king of Asia ;___; Although I don’t love the song, I have to admit that for a Chinese guy, he’s pretty good at dancing! Lol, j/k j/k, I really do love him to bits!

Top Combine; Cotton Candy First off, I’m like really freaked out by how skinny they are o__O. I know I’m not “allowed” to say this, but wheneve I watch them, I can’t help but think, “Korean boyband ripoff.” IDK, song is exactly how you’d imagine a song called “Cotton Candy” would sound….

Oh yeah, list of winners in case you care ; ))))

Hmmmmm………. I’m going to do that unwrittenly taboo thing of writing about Fahrenheit and DBSK together. I may even end up comparing them a bit, so if that’s setting off alarm bells for you…. well yeah…

Fahrenheit released their new Japanese single, “Only You” on April 18th. Seeings as how I’ve been neglecting these boys for a while, I only found out about this today o__O. If I’m not mistaken, they’ve released two Japanese singles prior to this one. I really hated the first, but I actually found the other one (“Treasure” right??) really catchy. For me, I think this one falls somewhere in the middle. Even though it’s a Japanese single, the basic elements are very Chinese ballad, which is fine, cuz I generally dislike the Jpop sound anyway (more on that later~~). I have to say the MV is beautiful though. Boring– yes, but beautiful. Sure, the Fahrenheit boys don’t do nothing except stand there and look wistful, but they are damn good at wistful standing, so no complaints XD.

I wonder where they shot this, cuz the location is stunning. Probably somewhere in Taiwan right? God, this just makes me want to visit that much more^^. The boys themselves look good as always; you know I’m always up for a cute Asian guy in a suit :D . This might come off a little creepy, I can’t help but notice how smooth and evenly toned their skin is. No seriously, Wu Chun is like thirty, yet his face is as smooth as a baby’s bottom– unreal T___T. Arh, I seriously can’t get over how beautiful the setting is. Honestly, had the whole mv just been shots of the location w/o the boys, I probably would have liked it just as much….

Overall, this is about as great as I expect from Fahrenheit, so I can’t say I’m dissapointed. I think they’re 14th right now on the weekly Oricon Chart, which is pretty darn good.

*Sigh* okay, time for a little honesty. I’ve been sort of lying to myself, and by extension, on this blog. As you probably noticed, I’ve been posting less and less on DBSK since they’ve returned to Japan. I think I’m finally at the point where I can just admit that I don’t really like them as much as I thought. This doesn’t mean that I dislike them; I mean, I’m still a fan, but just not crazy obsessive diehard. I realize now that my interest in them is directly proportional to how quality their music is, and at the moment, both are really, really…..low. Actually, the liking-artists-more-or-less-based-on-the-quality-of-music thing is fine, because that’s a normal, non-fangirl response. However, the liking-DBSK-less-because-their-music-sucks thing is sucky, because we all know DBSK is capable of better, and I want to like them more then I do atm. I mean, fourth album was so amazing, what happened?

Japan happened. Actually, that’s not really fair, because THSK pre Mirotic was really good too. However, since their return to Japan…. man, I don’t even know. I mean, “Bolero” was okay; I never really feel one way or another about their Japanese ballads. But “Surivor” was pretty terrible, and “Kiss the Baby Sky” was a piece of shit. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. I don’t even want to talk about The Secret Code, which to this day, I’ve only heard once. It’s not even just the lack of quality that’s bothering me, it’s also the fact that they appear like they’re not even trying.

Case and point: “Share the World.” It’s been what, three weeks since Secret Code has been out? And already, they’re back with a new single. Prior to writing this, I’ve tried and failed to watch this PV twice already. Honestly, if it wasn’t for this post, I probably still wouldn’t have been able to get through it. The song is typical Jpop, which isn’t my thing, and IMHO, isn’t the best fit for THSK either. I get that they’re trying to be thought of as Japanese artists, but is sounding like an Arashi clone really the only route they could have gone? Prior to recent releases, THSK was refreshingly different then the usual JE idol group, and I thought that was part of their charm. I mean, no matter what, they are Korean, and their music is gonna be influenced by Kpop, and that’s not a bad thing.

The song is one thing, but the PV is what really disappoints me. You could write off a crappy song as experimenting or whatever, but there’s really no excuse for their PV to look like it was it was edited by someone who took an hour long internet class on Movie Maker. I know THSK is busy, but that’s no excuse for a sloppily produced, substandard music video like that. And why is there no choreography? No, not every song has to have a dance attached, but the shot of them just standing there and bopping around is really stupid and awkward. Seriously, you can call me a hater if you want, but compare this to “Purple Line” or “Beautiful You.” Can you honestly say you think THSK is putting as much effort into their releases now as they did back then?

I said this when SJ was doing their crap Japanese releases, and I can’t believe I’m saying this about THSK, but I seriously hope they get a wake up call on the charts soon, cuz at this point, that seems to be the only thing that’ll get them to reevaluate. I doubt that’ll happen though, since THSK is doing better then ever in terms of sales. I mean, is this stuff really what Japan wants? A part of me is happy they are succeeding, but a larger part of me would rather see them give up some sucess if it meant better music. If that’s selfish, then so be it. I’m disappointed because DBSK built their reputation and fanbase on talent and good music (no matter what you think about them, relative to other Kpop idols, their Korean releases are still damn good~), but it doesn’t seem like they’re following through in Japan.

At this point, I actually like Fahrenheit’s new single to THSK’s. Not knocking on FRH or anything, but last year I never would have thought I’d see the day when I’d actually prefer Fahrenheit’s music to DBSK’s. At this point, I’m still interesting enough in DBSK to be disappointed at their recent activities, but that disappointment is rapidly approaching apathy. Of course I’m just one fan, and these are just my personal opinions. I could be completely off base; I mean, THSK could be amazing to everyone else for all I know. My negative feeling could just be directed at THSK, and not DBSK. I’d probably be all alsdfjsal over them the moment they return to work in Korea. I just feel like DBSK is too talented to be producing such substandard shit like this. We’ll see how things go~

Akasdjflsfdj I’m feeling a bit bored today, therefore I translated an old clip that’s one of my faves. I’ve been trying to catch up on Fahrenheit, cuz I’ve been neglecting this fandom so much lately : ((((((. As you may already know, my Chinese is bare minimum level, so this is totally not 100% accurate. Arh, I wish I had the ablility to sub cuz it would make it tonz funnier~ oh well….

Yea, more Fahrenheit!!!! This is what I get for not keeping up with Fahrenheit news. Homg, can you believe how adorable they are??? I’m loving the red, and the bartender tricks– they said they practiced hard at home for that. Soooooooo cute!!!

Check out the BTS too!!

I’ve been such a failure at keeping up with these boys lately : ((((((((

Happy Camp is a Mainland variety show that’s actually really funny. The hosts love to banter, and while a ton of their jokes go over my head (Chinese school drop out here~), it doesn’t have that sort of awkwardness that a lot of other Mainland shows have. I’m looking at you Sina interviews!!

Things:

  • Their entrance would have been cooler if they actually rode the motorcycles in, and not you know, just randomly straddled the back XDDDD
  • Arron’s sick and therefore left after the first song : (((((( I swear Fahrenheit is like the most accident/illness prone group ever. They seriously need to rest ’till they’re better, then do activities again…
  • Calvin is hot. Haircuts can do wonders T___T
  • Lol, they bring up WZ’s three tigers thing again. In case you don’t know, “Two Tigers” is like this famous nursery rhyme in Chinese, where one’s blind and one’s missing a tail, but WZ once was like, “in Brunei, we have the three tiger song.” Cept he didn’t know what the third tiger was missing. So the hosts made fun of him for that. Anyways, then he sings the three tigers song rock version with Calvin beatboxing (yes, you read right~) and Jiro randomly being obnoxious. IDK, but my spleen hurts from laughing so hard.
  • They go to 10 places for promotion in a day??? Holy shit, no wonder they’re always sick o__O
  • Lol, they ask WZ whether he’d rather sleep or eat, and Calvin’s like, “do you even need to ask???”
  • WZ+Calvin revealed that lately WZ has been talking a lot of “candid” shots of them changing and stuff. Um, donde esta???
  • As far as da ghei goes, FRH rolls with the best of them. They imitate this like “sexy” move and instead of being embarrassed, they (read: Jiro) go full out. ROTFL, he even kisses his muscles.
  • Calvin’s so cheesy//// He’s asked about something romantic he’s done in the past. I think he’s told this story before, but basically he says he once gave 99 roses to a girl and told her that it’s missing one because she’s number 100. Gah, sort of greasy but that boy’s got game^^
  • God, WZ is such a failure at life ♥♥ They do this game where they have to think of romantic ways to give lame gifts to the girl hosts. Calvin goes first with a wilted rose and proceeds to swoon everyone. When it was WZ’s turn, he has to give a bucket of popcorn. Even after Calvin helped him, he’s still just like, “…. here’s my beloved popcorn” Everyones like, “that’s it?!?!?” OMG, so much phail XDDD There’s some more stuff after this. OMG, you have to just watch, basically Calvin is a God at dorky pick up lines ^___^
  • Oh god Jiro lololol. He has to act out kissing when his teeth hurts or something like that. And in complete contrast to WZ, who’s always so awkward and shy, Jiro just like can’t wait to get up there. The part where he makes out with himself??? Get a room already ♥
  • Random: there’s this really cool acrobatic noodle making dude. Wow, sometimes Chinese people are really, really, really beyond awesome!!
  • HOmg, the little girls at the end were soooo cute!!! I find that as long as children aren’t in my physical proximity, they are really adorable;;;;

Okay that was like not even a summary. I’m so obviously WZ+Calvin biased. Seriously, those two are so Cpop OTP for life!! ♥♥♥ all of them so much!!! I hope they get/stay healthy!!!
