Um, what??? This is what happens when you abandon Cpop for Korean boys in tight pants. SHINee post coming your way soon. You end up missing out on total alskdjfaslkdj news like GARY CAO’S FOURTH ALBUM SUPERMARKET IS COMING OUT AT THE END OF JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Homg, I’ve been waiting for this forever ♥___♥
In the meantime, check out the mv for his new single “Mr. Lonely.” His voice is as gorgeous as always, but wth is that on his face?? The mv is super moody, and a little freaky tbh, but I guess it fits with the song;;; Omg, I’m getting chills just thinking about hearing him sing this live~~
So the other day, I was driving with my mom, and I randomly plugged in my ipod for some tunes. We listened to Gary Cao’s “The Only One in the World” and Flo Rida’s “Low.”
Guess which one she liked better? I’ll give you a hint. Flo Rida. Guess which guy’s voice she found annoying? I’ll give you another hint. Gary Cao.
Ha Ha, I’ve promised myself to do this post since forever and I’m finally getting around to it. Actually, the reason I’ve procrastinated so long is because I really don’t know who I should talk about. I listen to a more diverse group of artists in Cpop v. Kpop, but I don’t obsesses over many of them, and some I just put on as background noise without really paying attention. This isn’t comprehensive of everything I listen to, cuz I’d be dead before I could finish that list (not because I listen to that many artist, but it’s taken me two weeks to write about these nine people/groups, so you can do the math…) I’ve decided to just write about the most well known peoples in Cpop right now. No bands, because they’re partly about vocals and partly about instruments, so it’s sort of a different category (plus I’m lazy, plus I only listen to like three bands) and only Taiwan based artists, (again, lazy and) because I can actually find live performances for them.
I’ll start with the four biggies of Cpop right now. IMO, these four are the most well known, but more importantly, most talented Mandarin male soloists on the market today. All four of them do the majority of their own writing, including everything from lyrics to compositions, but since this is a vocal post, I’ll refrain from commenting on that (not like I know enough about music to say anything worthwhile anyway ;___;). They’re all amazing, so no need to rank them. Ordered by personal preference I guess.
So this is one of the few regular Taiwanese variety shows (at least that I know of) and I try to watch semi-regularly. I wasn’t terribly familiar with Taiwanese entertainment beyond like Fahrenheit or Jolin so this show has definitely introduced me to some pretty great Taiwanese talent. Also, the hosts Show Luo (Xiao Zhu) and Xiao Gui are hilarious and there this show definitely has its moments. My favorite episodes are definitely the ‘live’ ones where Zhu and Gui just stand around and talk about whatever comes to mind, which unusually leads to random retarded perversions lmao^^. Another really great segment is the one where celebrities come to promote their tv show or album or whatever, and they kinda meet ‘n greet with their fans by playing games or acting out little skits. Depending on the celebrity, these shows can be really funny especially since most of the skits involve some sort of uncomfortable! pg pseudo seckkual tenshion situation where the guest and the fan get really embarrased and Zhu and Gui only further contribute to the awkwardness ♥♥.

Anyways, above is a clip of Gary Cao (alksdf I pimped him in that mv post, do check him out if you haven’t already^^) on the show and he has to compose a romantic ballad for that male fan lol. So first he’s like ’someone hold my mic for me’ and Show like wraps his arms around Gary to hold it for him. Lmao, check out Gary’s facial expression <3. Then, he starts ad libbing on the keyboard and it’s pretty much amazing (this clip is incredibly dumb, but still shows how talented he is, ILUSM Cao Ge!!!) So then Show starts with his phone sex voice and is like, ‘are you lonesome tonight…hey handsome boy…tonight so lonely…’ I almost bit my tongue off at this point trying to keep from laughing and the fan is just like ;___;. Show+English is pretty much guaranteed lulz anytime lol ♥. I think he and Gary are pretty good friends cause then Gary’s like, ‘is it my turn?!?’ and then he starts singing and its like alsdfk ♥♥♥. Anyways, they played a game earlier where they dressed up as turtles so Gary’s like, ‘ohhhhh, you are the most beautiful turtle in my heart…’ then Show had to ruin it with his, ‘touch my body’ lololol there’s some more equally ridiculous stuff after that and it’s all so mind-numbingly stupid but awesome you just have to watch the clip ; ).
If you understand Chinese, I definitely recommend you check out some full shows. Several really awesome fans upload it daily on youtube, so just search 娛樂百分百 and it should pop up. It really is a great way to familiarize yourself with Taiwanese celebs and Xiao Zhu and Xiao Gui are beyond funny ♥. Best way to waste an hour everyday!!!
Before I got into Asian music, I never really paid attention to music videos. Maybe it was because the bands I liked pretty much just stood around somewhere with emo expressions and played instruments emo-ly. While the music was great, the the mvs didn’t really add anything to the song. However, in Asian pop, I find that well made mv’s really enhance my liking of a song because when done right, it can add another dimension to the music and allows the artist to express themselves through a visual media. Or, it just gives them an excuse to do more pelvic thrusts–whatever^^. Anyways, I just wanted to pimp some of my favorite artists, especially those who I normally don’t write much about.
