JJ Lin

Ha Ha, I’ve promised myself to do this post since forever and I’m finally getting around to it. Actually, the reason I’ve procrastinated so long is because I really don’t know who I should talk about. I listen to a more diverse group of artists in Cpop v. Kpop, but I don’t obsesses over many of them, and some I just put on as background noise without really paying attention. This isn’t comprehensive of everything I listen to, cuz I’d be dead before I could finish that list (not because I listen to that many artist, but it’s taken me two weeks to write about these nine people/groups, so you can do the math…) I’ve decided to just write about the most well known peoples in Cpop right now. No bands, because they’re partly about vocals and partly about instruments, so it’s sort of a different category (plus I’m lazy, plus I only listen to like three bands) and only Taiwan based artists, (again, lazy and) because I can actually find live performances for them.

I’ll start with the four biggies of Cpop right now. IMO, these four are the most well known, but more importantly, most talented Mandarin male soloists on the market today. All four of them do the majority of their own writing, including everything from lyrics to compositions, but since this is a vocal post, I’ll refrain from commenting on that (not like I know enough about music to say anything worthwhile anyway ;___;). They’re all amazing, so no need to rank them. Ordered by personal preference I guess.

OMG, this is hilarious, and random, and inappropriate, and dorky all at the same time^^. I tried, but was ultimately unsuccessful, at finding the lyrics to this song cause now I’m really curious exactly WTF is going on?!?!!?!? So the mv begins with JJ’s parents going out while he’s looking completely adorable (not to mention 12-years-old) eating cereal. The dad’s like, “don’t mess around” and JJ’s all, “sure thing, dad = )” Then these random girls (who are apparently his shi mei, BY2) appear, and they sort of remind me of the olly girls on Sunset Tan, except Asian (anyone watch that show? no? I so don’t either o___O). JJ changes into that adorable plaid outfit he’s wearing on the album cover, and then suddenly his house is like transformed into the discotecha or sumthin… seriously, I don’t know. Then, there’s like these random girls in bikinis gyrating and “people take a shit on his sofa” ??? I thought this song (and by extension, JJ) were completely innocent but I guess not ♥♥. Finally, his parent’s come home and it’s back to innocent JJ. I really don’t understand what I just witnessed, but it was pretty darn awesome^^.

Cpop Cpop Cpop!!! I just can’t get enough lately;;; Lol so I wrote about Bai Fen Bai a while back, and since then, there haven’t really been any interesting guests up until the last few days. Anyways, on, the 26th JJ Lin had his album preview thing then on the 27th they showed a documentary of sorts of Yoga Lin as the Asian Song Festival and Fahrenheit was in like a hugh chunk of it ♥. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a whole BFB from start to finish but I watched these two epi’s in one night while I was suppose to be studying but it was totally worth it (except not when I fail out of college but oh well//)

Ok originally, I wrote this long summary thing, but I wrote it at five in the morning, and when I went to read it, I couldn’t understand like 70% of what I was saying~. So instead of a rambly post, i’ll just put the links in and call it a day. God, school needs to die in a fire right now : ///

JJ Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 JJ is so beyond talented… The album is growing on me, and he’s always been fun on variety shows. My favorite parts of this was when he sung High Fashion with the cute dance, and when he composes the Autumn song. Yeah, just watch it…

Yoga/FRH Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Gah, this was so much love! Cpop/Kpop crossover is like my my number one fangirl wish. I totally squeed when I saw Shinee and DBSK on Bai Fen Bai, seriously ultimate fandom overlap~. I also liked when they did hotel cribs with the guys. Wu Zun was on top of his game with the eating and picture taking of food ♥. I don’t listen to Yoga Lin, but from what I can tell, he’s quite talented, not to mention strange XD. Fun epi to waste an hour ; ).

JJ seems to be especially popular among the international crowd. I’m going to try really, really hard to like him more, because: his music is da bomb, he has a killa voice, he acts like a spazzy dork but mostly just because he is awesome sauce. I’ll write this post as I listen to his new album so these are first time impressions^^, I dunno, sometimes I change my mind as I listen to stuff more, for the most part, I end up liking everything more the more I listen so I think my initial thoughts will be the most objective. If you want to check out his album for yourself, go here^^.
