Mayday

Yippie! This is like the ultimate treat for my Cpop deprived self! I have no idea what this award is, but so many artists showed up, so it must be pretty legit. Alsdjflsdkj, I had the hardest time collecting performances, so if you have more links to share, or happen to know where I can watch the full show, I will give my undying love to you forevers!!

Leehom; Xin.Tiao. How long has it been since I’ve seen a Leehom performance? Too damn long!! Lol @ the technical difficulty in the begining. Leehom is so squishable when he’s like, “should we do it one more time?” Alsjdfjlkdfslk I cannot love this guy anymore than I do!!! I think it goes without saying that his singing was amazing as always^^^He always sings his songs differently each time he performs, and he’s so expressive!! ♥♥♥X1000000!!!!!!!

Jason Zhang Jie; 2008 Taiwan/HK Top Songs Medley Okay, I don’t know who Jason Zhang is, judging by the screams, he’s hella popular in China atm. Anyways, I loved this performance! He basically sings a line or two from the most popular songs of HK/Taiwan of the past year. So many of my faves on the list! Aklsadjfsld, I need to learn more about this boy! He’s cute, he can sing, what else is there to ask for????

BoBo; 2008 Mainland Top Songs Medley | If Okay, I’m only familar with BoBo by name, but I do know they are the most popular group in China right now. Purely judging by their voice/looks/way they look at one another, I’d say they’re pretty deserving XDD. Anyways, I’m sort of embarrassed that I pretty much recognized all the songs/artists from the Taiwan/HK list, but I know almost no one on this list o___O. Lol at all the Olympic propaganada music that managed to get on the list though T__T. As far as their other song, it’s pretty typical Cpop, but again, cute+nice voices = me relatively interested.

Fahrenheit; Xin Wo Kind of a side note, but I hate those stupid sponsor mics; the random plast strip is really distracting ^__^ Anyways, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen FRH perform this song. Eh, not too bad I guess.

Mayday; Ni Bu Shi Zhen Zheng De Kuai Le Ahhh, this has got to be one of my fave songs from PotDA!!! I don’t normally watch Mayday live performances, cuz to be honest, I think they sound a lot better on the CD, but I really liked this performance! I don’t really listen to that much rock music, but it’s fun watching these boys play the guitar, bass and drums!

Jam Hsiao; Wang Zi De Xin Yi Okay question: When did Jam Hsiao get hot? I remember back when he was just this super awkward kid who couldn’t say more than three words at once, but now he’s all, “look at me, I sing rock and wear tight pants” Whatever, love this Jam 2394293X more!!

S.H.E; Miss Universe The thing I love about S.H.E. the most is that they’re always so perky! They’re one of the few performers that actually have coreography, and I always feel like bopping along whenever I watch them perfrom this song!

Show Luo; Hot Shot Speaking of  coreography, here’s the supposed dance king of Asia ;___; Although I don’t love the song, I have to admit that for a Chinese guy, he’s pretty good at dancing! Lol, j/k j/k, I really do love him to bits!

Top Combine; Cotton Candy First off, I’m like really freaked out by how skinny they are o__O. I know I’m not “allowed” to say this, but wheneve I watch them, I can’t help but think, “Korean boyband ripoff.” IDK, song is exactly how you’d imagine a song called “Cotton Candy” would sound….

Oh yeah, list of winners in case you care ; ))))

Screencap by: hey there~ @ soompi

Why is my internet running like the crapper right now?!?!? So, Cpop, Kpop, Kpop wannabe Jpop, Kpop wannabe Cpop, I’m just gonna throw it all up on here.

Tohoshinki I take back what I said eariler, DBSK has been gone from Korea for like two days, and I already miss them. *Am grass is greeener type of person* O__o. So this is the huge, big-deal music show everyone’s been crapping their pants about? I’m sorry, but after watching that SBS thing, how could this possibly be satisfying? The boys sounded great though, especially considering their travel schedule.

SuJu M | Part 2 SJM’s new year performance wasn’t much better. In fact, they had to perform outside, so that probably sucked more. I think this is also China’s biggest New Year’s show. So far, I haven’t found any other cuts but I really wanna watch the other acts. I mean, SJM sounded great (when they sung live ;___;), but again, boring. I sound bitter, but it’s not directed at them, the production value is just not high.

More the half of SM’s talent now spends the majority of their time promoting in other countries. This wouldn’t be so bad if the music shows elsewhere were decent. But they’re not, so it sucks. I hate that I’ve finally succumbed to the ”Kpop is better in Korea” mentality. Not that I don’t love SJM and THSK, but the shininess just isn’t there. I like shiny.

WonderBang Shiny!!!!!!! WonderBang is epic. While I didn’t think it was as great as their first special stage, it was still very much amazing. I liked how they paired up one boy to one girl at the beginning. Taeyang and Sunye sounded great. I thought Yoobin did an amazing job with the rap to “Lies,” but why did Seungri look kinda afraid of her? Was it cuz of her fugly pants? Of course Sohee would do “Tell Me,” and G-Dragon played his part well~. Then OMG, Yeeun and Daesung!!!!?!?! Totally, my faves from each group, loved them doing “Haru Haru” so fierce! Why was the Top/Sunmi part so short? So uncomfortable. They looked like they were roleplaying pimp and ho, not digging it. I loved how BB remixed “So Hot.” Sexy indeed! It sounded great, oh yeah, I loved that they were wearing pink ♥. “Last Farewell” was cool and I loved how they added the Wonder Girls’ name into the song. Kwel. Please don’t ever leave Korea.

Epik High + 2PM I haven’t seen an Epik High performance in a while, and the 2PM boys are always fun. Both performances were full of lulz, very happy and fun ♥.

Fahrenheit They had their concert in Beijing, so fancams only. I haven’t watched many of them, but it’s been awhile since I’ve heard “I have my Young” I absolutely love that song XDDD. I can’t really judge how good the performance was, although I’m almost sure they’re not singing live. Oh well, I love when bands sing their classics from back in the day : ).

Edit: Okay, I finally managed to find some more Cpop performances.

Jam Hsiao I just find it funny that he’s doing Bon Jovi. I think he did a good job, not great, but he’s improved so much as a performer. Yea!

Mayday asdklfjsaldfj OMG, Mayday!!!!!! I don’t get to watch nearly enough of their live performances!!! I”m really excited to watch this, so I’m just gonna link to part one and you can find the rest from there. *Off to watch now*

Eh, overall, the New Year’s Eve performances weren’t too special. But a new year is upon us, so plenty of opportunity for bigger and better! Have a happy new year, and please be safe tonight!

U-Kiss... even if I wanted to heart them, its not gonna happen

U-Kiss... even if I wanted to ♥ them, it's like not happening

So I know it may be heresy to say this, but I think I’ve reached a saturation point in boyband love. This isn’t a “I’m losing interest” thing but more of a “I’m tired and I just can’t keep up” thing. This may sound stupid, but liking a boyband is a lot of hard work. I mean, it’s no gulag, but nevertheless, hours upon hours of mindless internet stalking surfing takes it’s toll *whine*. First of all, there’s the need to figure out who’s who. I dunno about you, but I can’t sufficiently enjoy a boyband until after I’ve at least gotten to know all their names and approximate ages (The age thing is a must; especially knowing exactly how young the youngest one is~). While this task may sound easy, it’s not. Not even close because there are always many group members, who always travel in packs, while often wearing the same clothes. That makes it difficult to tell them apart (Ihavetroublewithfacesdon’tmakefunofmeokay?!?!). Then, once you finally can semi match names to faces, all of them proceed to chage their hair styles and so it’s like, “crap!!! have to start all over again!!!”

Ha Ha, I’ve promised myself to do this post since forever and I’m finally getting around to it. Actually, the reason I’ve procrastinated so long is because I really don’t know who I should talk about. I listen to a more diverse group of artists in Cpop v. Kpop, but I don’t obsesses over many of them, and some I just put on as background noise without really paying attention. This isn’t comprehensive of everything I listen to, cuz I’d be dead before I could finish that list (not because I listen to that many artist, but it’s taken me two weeks to write about these nine people/groups, so you can do the math…) I’ve decided to just write about the most well known peoples in Cpop right now. No bands, because they’re partly about vocals and partly about instruments, so it’s sort of a different category (plus I’m lazy, plus I only listen to like three bands) and only Taiwan based artists, (again, lazy and) because I can actually find live performances for them.

I’ll start with the four biggies of Cpop right now. IMO, these four are the most well known, but more importantly, most talented Mandarin male soloists on the market today. All four of them do the majority of their own writing, including everything from lyrics to compositions, but since this is a vocal post, I’ll refrain from commenting on that (not like I know enough about music to say anything worthwhile anyway ;___;). They’re all amazing, so no need to rank them. Ordered by personal preference I guess.

More spam!!!! So apparently some words were said over the above. Whatever; either the media is making a big deal over nothing (most likely), or Mayday are cocky bastards (hey, when you can backup the narcissism with real talent, why not?). Either way, I’m so glad their album is doing amazing. 1.3 million copies in one week would be great even by American standards, and it’s frickin’ amazing for Asia. Actually, I’ve listened to Jay’s new album as well, and it’s not shabby either. I may write it up later ; ). Oh, and lookie lookie, who’s number three??? In case you don’t know, 東方神起 is Chinese for frickin’ amazing, wonderfully talented, five person Korean Boyband that recently released an alsdkfjaslk amazing album XDDDDDDD. I know Taiwan is a small market, but with the quantity of legitimately talented competition there, foreign artists should take pride in scoring so high on the combo charts. Taiwanese artists set the standard in Cpop, and they produce so many of the bestselling artists of Asia which is why a certain seven member boyband who specialize in hip thrusts needs to get their hips over there right nao!!!
