2PM

I hope he’s happy in America, and I hope 2PM can make it through this.

WWJC? I think hed be glad he lived before internet.

WWJD? I think he'd be glad he lived B.I. (before internet).

Pointless post for something equally as pointless.

When this supposed scandal first broke, I was like what a douche thing to say. Some fans are so quick to defend their idols, I wouldn’t be surprised if they found ways to excuse eating babies or something.

However, there’s a difference between excusing and forgiving, and people really need to be a bit more Mother Teresa and less whoever makes a lot of excuses. What he said was wrong, and I can completely understand why people are offended by it. I’m not in a position to forgive or admonish him, so I can only hope he doesn’t feel that way anymore and apologize to those he’s hurt (which he has).

Basically, this whole thing has really gotten way out of hand. I can understand if people are this upset if he said it like last week, but it was so many years ago, plus, he was like 18, and it’s myspace for god sakes. Also, I bet a huge chunk of these people aren’t even mad about what he said; they probably just don’t like him or 2PM or JYP or Korean Americans or sunlight or something, and are just using this as an opportunity to bash. If people are going to continue to overreact, then they should make him apologize for the travesty he committed against the English language too jfc.

Ultimately though, I think a little scandal is good for 2PM. It’s been relatively smooth sailing for them ever since debut, and you can only have ups and no downs for so long. Irrationally and self righteously angry netizens asking for you to resign is just another check mark on the “things that only happen to really famous people in Korea” list. If anything, Jae and 2PM should be a little flattered.

Whatever, Korea is ADHD, and like everything else, it’ll blow over. Plus, it wouldn’t be Kpop if there wasn’t crazy, srs bzns all the time ;)

You know, I haven’t written one of these comparison posts in awhile. My two favorite groups in Kpop, so why not? These are my try-as-hard-as-I-can-to-be-objective opinions :)

Music: This is tough because SuJu’s discography is way, way larger than 2PM’s, and the two groups have relatively different styles of music, for Kpop idol bands anyways. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this, but Time for Change is one of my favorite mini-albums from this year, and I can honestly say I love every single song on there. Their old stuff is not too shabby either, so in other words, they’ve never really released anything atrociously bad.

SJ, otoh, has released quite a bit of crap music (yes, I’ll gladly admit this) over the years. However, SJ has stepped up their game, and Sorry, Sorry is about as great as an idol album gets. I definitely like my favorite SJ songs more than my favorite 2PM songs, however, I have to go with the latter on this one. I know a lot of people will disagree, and tbh, I myself don’t agree completely either (it’s a bit bipolar I know). The deciding factor for me came down to 2PM’s consistency, and the fact that they got to a more “mature sound” on their second release, whereas it’s taken SJ 3+ years. It’s close though.

Singing: Okay, let’s be real. Neither group is super amazing, and both groups were pretty, totally bad when they debuted. The good news is that everyone has improved, and compared to the average idol group, neither group is terrible anymore. I think the ratio of excellent to decent singers in both groups is about 1:2, but the best singers in SJ are a lot better than the best singers in 2PM, so there you go. Winner: SJ

Dancing: I lol at how both groups are often labeled “dance groups,” which basically is just a nice way of saying neither group can sing very well. “10 out of 10″ was crazy impressive, if only because prior to 2PM, idols didn’t do the bboy thing. I don’t’ think anyone questions 2PM’s dancing abilities, which is why I’m sad the “Again and Again” and “I Hate You” choreographies don’t fully highlight their talent. If anything, it was a total step back from their debut days. I really hope they get something more challenging for their next single ; )

Of course I’m biased, but I’ve always been crazy impressed by SJ’s dance routines. It’s not just that their steps are complicated; all decent boy groups have relatively technical routines. What impresses me most is all the crazy formation switches they do. Watching SJ performances with close up shots is never totally satisfying cuz a major part of their dance is about how they look together. I’m guessing all the coordination is a lot harder than SJ makes it look.

Still, I’ll still go with 2PM as the better dancers, which they are as a group. SJ has great dancers sure, but they also haves some pretty atrocious ones (you know who I’m thinking of right?). I’m still super impressed by SJ’s routines though.

Entertainment value: This is such an underrated talent. Singing and dancing is only 1/2 of the Kpop equation. No way would any of us love Kpop as much without the billions of variety shows out there. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my two favorite groups happen to be the most cracktastic, flamboyant, blatantly fanservicey, cheesy, no filter, ridiculous things in Kpop. No one brings the lulz like they do, and of all the categories, I think this is where both groups are most similar to each other.

I think the difference between SJ and 2PM is that 2PM just sort of does whatever, and it’s their natural personalities giving us the laughs. SuJu otoh, has had years of experience, and their crack is perfected like a well oiled machine. I’m not calling them fake, just real professional. I’m constantly impressed by how well the SJ members play off of one another, and I am still shocked at some of the stuff they’re willing to say and do. All in all, SJ is the original “non idol imaged” idol group, and while 2PM is hilarious and awesome, they still have a ways to go to match up to that mess.

Face/Body: 2PM. See: every picture that’s ever been taken of the two groups.

Did I miss anything? Overall, SJ is a better group right now, and that’s not bias talking. They’ve been around a lot longer, and they’re more polished and accomplished in pretty much every aspect. However, I do think 2PM is further along in their careers than SJ was at the same point, but whatever. Bottom line is that they’re both awesome ♥

What the hell is wrong with these boys??? Omg, I ♥♥♥♥♥ them forever!!!!!!!!!!

This clip shows the seven of them rehearsing hard for “I Hate You.” Or rather hardly rehearsing?? Idk; well, it started off okay^^

Basically, the oldest kids in the group (minus Nichkhun, who’s a good boy) show us that they’d rather act retarded, then seriously practice. Cool!

Idk what was funnier: Jaebeom and Junsu trying to out camera whore one another, with Taecyeon bouncing around like a little puppy, or the rest of them in the background looking like they’re wondering how they ended up with such stupid bandmates.

Alskjfsdlfjsdlfkjd oh 2PM never leave me!!!!! and by that I mean never leave Korea!!!

Edit: I just watched the clip for like the third time (don’t judge me okay~~!!~~!), and only now do I realize that Junho takes off his shirt @ 2:50. Ignore the crazy in the foreground.

Oh whut? Did 2PM just won their first K-Chart ever O__O ???? I think they did~~~~~

I couldn’t be happier for them! Again & Again is soooooooooo awesome, it would have been a total travesty if they didn’t win for the song at least once! Okay, I realize that half my posts now are about so and so group winning random music charts when I use to be all, “I’mabovecareingaboutrankings” and stuff~~ Oh, the wonders of fandom…

Okay, on to “I Hate You.” I literally loved all of the songs on Time for Change so it’s totally cool that they’re promoting this next. I thought they were gonna break after “A&A” so this is an awesome surprise!!!

The outfits are so much better this time around!!! Okay, yes half the group is channeling TOP and his chin diaper but 2PM is badass enough to pull it off. Holy eyeliner Chansung! God, the level of hot I find him now is so wrong, but oh so right. And holy crap, everyone’s right: Taec ttly sounds like TOP~~. My fave Korean boys are those that are dorky/faily on shows, and smexy/yummy on stage. I’d say Taecyeon definitely falls in that catagory ♥ I kinda lol at the dance cuz they do that spazzy shaking thing a lot which I don’t get, but whatever, they’re hot so Iedc T__T I’m really impressed by their singing too (look a non-shallow comment!!); these boys have improved so much since debut! Just awesome ♥♥♥
