Jang Ri In

I’m so proud of myself for coming up with that title! *beams* No, I did not use a rhyming dictionary

OMG, I wrote all of this except the Mirotic stuff months ago, but never got around to posting it. However, the above was enough motivation for me to finally finish this.

Ok, originally I was gonna try and include all of Kpop in this, but my bias is so blatant, what’s the point of hiding it? I should just make an SM tag already since 90% of my compilation posts are about them anyways T__T. It’s always fascinated me how Asian groups (read: SM read: DBSJ) remake their songs into various languages, cuz it sounds so weird to hear the same song, but not. Yeah, deep thoughts I have~. Um, I’ll just put the links side by side, and you can choose to read or not to read the ramblings that go along with it. Oh yeah, since the only thing I can do in this post is make snarky comments about their accents, I won’t be including the Japanese version for all of these songs because I’m way to lazy to track all of them downno hablo.

DBSK. Lotsa stuff.

Mirotic (Korean) | (Japanese) You know what? I’m far too excited about the Chinese version to talk about either of the other ones, and I’m sure by now you’ve see them both like a bajillion times so whatever, let’s just get back to discussing the Chinese version. OMG, like, just OMG. Actually, I don’t even know what to say. Even after you told me that was Chinese, I kinda still don’t believe you. I mean, Jaejoong??? ILU, but OMG… just OMG. The chorus was okay, I’ll give them that, but OMG, OMG. And the English rap??? I think my brain just melted. OMG. Thank you DBSK, for your continued support of Chinese music. The industry wouldn’t know what to do without you ; )))))))))))).

While all the MKMF craziness happening, SJM was winning an award of their own! Sigh, it’s been so long since I’ve been able to use my Super Junior tag. I miss dem sooooooo much!!!! come back to meeeeeeee!!!!!! Ahem, so major props to SJM for winning most popular group. They were up against SHE, FRH, and BOBO, but it was pretty clear who the audience favorite was XDDD. YEah, this isn’t like winning a Golden Melody award or anything, but it gave them a chance to look spiffy in suits ♥ and it gave me a chance to oogle them, so really, everyone’s a winner. Han Geng, unfortunately, wasn’t there cause he was filming his drama : (. No matter, he sent a video message with the usual ‘thanks’ and ‘we’ll work hard’ stuff. Zhou Mi picked up the slack by thanking the managers/LSM, but my favorite part was when the non proficient-at-Chinese members each said something~. Henry was so enthusiastic; he was practically bouncing off the walls XD, and than Kyu’s just like “thank you..” LOLOL. I have to say, all of them sound so much more comfortable with Chinese now ♥.

Edit: Okay, according to this, Zhang Li Yin also won best newcomer. Lol, I don’t know why she’s considered a newcomer when her Chinese debut was actually before SJM, but congrats to her as well!

More Kpop, or more specifically, SM (only the current roster~ I’d die from Kpop overload if I tried to do every SM debut ever). I do actually, occasionally, really listen to other Kpop, but this post is already gonna be essay length so I’ll do the other people another day ; ))). Actually, I’d love one for Cpop as well, but they don’t have organized music stages so I guess I can’t ///. Confession: I’ve actually never seen most of these (okay, none except the SJ and ZLY ones *uber fail*), so it’ll be fun to compare then and now. Since the Korean broadcasting companies had their youtube inquisition, a lot of older videos have been removed so we’ll see how successful I am at tracking stuff down~. Um, I’ll do it by order of debut I guess.

When I listen to American songs, I never really care that much about vocals. I mean, most bands have a lead vocalist who does like 95% of the singing, and then the sub vocalist who might gets the leftovers. People may scorn boybands and call them talentless hacks (they’re not totally wrong; see Fahrenheit) but it’s actually pretty hard to get four or five or 13 voices to harmonize together for a four minute song. I’ll just go through my itunes and talk about as many people as I can mentally handle and then I’ll go take a nap or something.
