Wonder Girls; Nobody English Version

All right, of their three hook songs, “Nobody” is actually my least favorite. Personally, I wish they made their first single “Tell Me” but whatevs. Still, I like the song– more then the Korean version for sure. Kpop has dominated my playlists for so long that I sometimes forget how nice it is to actually be able to understand the lyrics ^__^

As I was listening to this, I realized that if Wonder Girls continue down this path, they’re destined to be linked with teenyboppers forever. That’s not necessarily a bad thing cuz 12 year old American fangirls are as fierce as heck. However, I hope they realize that universal love they experienced in Korea is never gonna happen here. I’m sure they’re keeping expectations low, but it must be hard to go from being a nation’s little sisters to– well, nobodies with just a flight across the Pacific.

A/n not really related, but since I’m too adhd to be able to keep posts on topic– I’m just gonna accept the 30984209 bajillion girl groups invading Kpop atm. In the near future, I will be cheering on the WGs in the US (but also sekkritly hoping they fail enough so they make a Korean comeback soon^^), grudgingly admiring 2NE1 for their very hyped but very existent talent, hatin’ on the trainwreck that is 4Minute, and enjoying watching SNSD obliterate the competition with their awesomeness. SuJu who? I don’t even care.

The Cell Phone MV CF Battle

Koreans are serious about their idols and their cell phones. Naturally Kpop and consummerism go hand in hand like– well, Kpop and consummerism.

First up, the Anycall Bodyguard as endorsed by Yi Jung and Ga Eul Kim Bum and Kim So Eun. Shamelessly riding on the BBF train, but it’s okay because the CF is teeth rottingly cute. SHINee sings the backgroud song, but not gonna lie, my favorite part is Boom Joon Pyo ♥♥. The whole thing is so cliche and melodramatic and very Korean drama like. Does it make you wanna buy a phone though? Maybe if Kim Bum came with it…..

Big Band ang the newly minted 2NE1 for LG Cyon Lollipop. I’ve already declared my love for this song but here’s the mv version. IDK, it’s just so colorful. Theoretically, this should be ridiculous. But somehow these boys and girls managed to make a rainbow colored lollipop song cool. Although it sort of hurts my eyes to watch, I’m still mesmerized by it o__O. Why is Seungri wearing a cape though? And I think this is the first time I’ve found TOP hot. Those plastic glasses and slicked back hair is doing something. Is that sick? I think this is my favorite of the three.

Last one! Wonder Girls endorsing KTF Ever’s X-Slim phone. This is a remake of a FinKL song. Okay. Aside from the fact that the WG look beyond hot, and Sohee eats some jello sexily, there’s really nothing memorable about this. Still, it’s nice to see something newish from them. It’s been a while : D

You know, the liberal, Jon Stewart loving, ultra-pc conscious part of me finds this repulsive. I read their Wikipedia page, and it seems like the guy in charge basically decided it would be fun for the inmate to dance for exercises, and has turned this into some publicity, commercial thing.

I do find it somewhat sick. However, the fangirl part of me tells me it’s pretty neat too. If indeed the prisoners were forced to dance and cross dress or whatever against their will, then that would definitely be cruel and unusual. However, if the prisoners don’t mind and actually enjoy themselves, then it’s actually pretty cool. Beat’s shivving one another every day in the prison yard I guess (lakdsfjsl, can you tell how up on my prison knowledge I am? o__O)

But back to the dance– It’s definitely the most unusual and massive cover I’ve seen, and seriously, they did a good job. The Wonder Girls would be proud.

I realized that I did the SM version, promised I listen to more Kpop then that, then proceeded to forget about the whole thing. This post is pretty much solely to prove that I listen to non SM Korean music. *Ahem* You can use your own discretion to decide how truthful I’m being….

So I guess the America thing isn’t a joke. Okay.

I really like it when artists have youtube channels though. It’s a small gesture, but it really gives the fans a more intimate connection. Personally, I especially love BTS videos of the artists, because it’s always nice to take a peek behind the varnish. If you haven’t yet, make sure you check out the tango practices with 2pm. Something about the guys and gals in their rehersal clothe makes it extra hawt!
